NAME Kat and Jason Todd
WHERE Stark Tower
WHEN 11/04/2019 (backdated)
WARNING language
STATUS closed

Jason wasn't about to stay in the park. He had learned that he wasn't the only one here and that he shouldn't have been as abrupt when he was in the welcome center. He hoped that he didn't break anyone too bad. Especially that blonde woman that came at him. It wasn't too much because he could only remember getting one hit in with her because she backed up.

Now he needed to get a better look at this place. Still in, apparently, the main city of Freedomtown he looked for the highest tower. He still had his case which meant he still had his gear. He would have been pissed if that was left behind. He was able to make it to the roof of the building that he thought he would get the best look over everything.

"What kind of name is Freedomtown anyway?" he said to himself as he stood at the edge of the building.

Either luckily for him, or unfortunately for him (depending on how these two got on), the building he'd climbed? Was the addition that Tony and Rocket had built onto Stark Tower. They'd needed a bigger workshop considering their research on Asuka's EVA unit, plus all the mayhem Kat tended to get into with her own creations. And right now? Kat was walking out onto the roof to test a new version of her FBA-19 rifle (still fires flaming bullets... but now hopefully the focus and aim was far better). So rather than testing it... instead she aimed it at the boy, and loudly cleared her throat. "So.... wanna tell me why you're on our d'ast roof, you flartnard?"

Jason had been distracted so he didn't hear when someone joined him on the roof. Not usually a mistake he made. He hadn't been on his game lately, not since being with Deathstroke. He turned around when he heard a girl's voice to see the rifle pointed at him. A smirk creeping across his face as he looked to the girl holding it. "Just trying to get a better view," he said as he hopped down from edge.

"Then I suggest you do it elsewhere." Kat said with a smirk, that rifle still aimed at him. "Nothing to see up here but a well-armed tomboy with a destructive streak."

"I didn't see any no loitering signs up here," Jason said as he gestured around. It wasn't like it was his first time on a privately owned roof top. "So I figured that it was fair game." He knew it wasn't but he didn't really care about that.

"You don't seem overly concerned about the fact that I have a flarkin' rifle pointed right at you. Should I add that it fires flaming hollow-point bullets?" She asked, eyes narrowing a little. "This is my family's property. Why you go somewhere you can find some girls that are hot, and that also aren't pointing weapons at you."

"It wouldn't be the first time someone pointed a gun at me, certainly isn't the biggest," Jason said with a laugh in his voice. He worked with Batman so a girl with a gun wasn't about to scare him off. "It's also the tallest building that I could see. I'm kind of new here and needed to get a lay of the land." He wasn't sure why she thought he was on the look for hot girls. "Who said I'm looking for girls anyway?"

"You're a teenage boy. What the flark else do they look for?" She asked, before sighing and calling out. "GROOT! Wanna check our new friend here for weapons?" Before Jason could even process what the hell she said, long, thick branches twisted around his ankles and wrists from behind, while a couple more began patting him down for weapons.

"I don't know. Some freaking answers to this place," He was having trouble wrapping his head around the fact that a gem brought him there. It wasn't like he wasn't used to things being weird but that didn't mean he accepted it easily. "Groot, what?" he didn't have time to react before the branches had him stuck in place by holding his wrists and ankles. "What the fuck?!" He tried to pull away but that didn't work. All he had on him was his grappling hook that he used to get up there.

"Thanks, Unc. You can drop him." She said, before a rumbling voice replied, "I.... am GROOT", followed by the woodlike tendrils retracting from the boy, allowing him to drop to his feet. Groot stood behind him, towering over the both of them. "We're ok here now. I promise. You can go tell Daddy I got this covered." She said, before Groot nodded and walked away, into a nearby door that led back into the building's highest floor.

She lowered the rifle then, leaning against the wall. "So. Got a name, Loiterer?"

Jason wasn't sure what the fuck a Groot was but that was the first time he was attacked by a tree. He wasn't sure if he was going to tell Dick or Bruce about that. He was caught completely off guard. He landed back on his feet and straightened up to look at the girl in front of him. Then watched carefully watching as the tree... person walked away. "You're not going to explain the tree?" he said as he point at Groot as he walked away.

"Jason Todd," he introduced himself. "So who are you, Tree Whisperer?"

"I'm Kat." She said, looking him up and down. Cute, if a bit of a dick. "And the building we're standing on is a workshop shared by me, my dad, and our friend. So... yeah. Lot of sensitive stuff here. Not exactly liking strangers climbing it like a d'ast monkey."

Jason wasn’t exactly sure what to make of her. It was the first time he was perplexed by a girl. He wasn’t sure if he would see the other one again, didn’t see her doing well here. Maybe he was projecting feelings of himself there. “Maybe you shouldn’t have made it so tall. Kind of makes it the ideal place for a birds eye view of the city,” it was the reason he picked it as the place to get a good look around. “It’s not like I’ll be getting help from that welcome center you got down there.” So he had to familiarize himself in other ways.

"Dude. It has to house a krutacking 300 foot tall robot. Of course it's gotta be a tall building." She smirked, rolling her eyes. "We've been working on the d'ast thing for over a flarkin' year already."

“There’s a giant robot in this building?” Why the hell were they standing out here when he could be taking a look at that thing? “I need to see that.” He started to walk toward her. “So why do you say? Give me the tour?” Yes, he was assuming a lot for just having met the girl but she was the one mentioning robots.

"Dude!" She laughed, shaking her head, "How do you go from 'this chick might go flarnak on me with a gun' to 'hey, maybe she'll show me around her workshop' that quickly?"

“Maybe I didn’t really think you were going to shoot me. Plus you know I’m unarmed so it’s not like I’m going to hold you at gun point or anything,” He wouldn’t promise that he wouldn’t try to jack anything that looked cool and was small enough to fit in his pocket. “Plus you’ve got supertree in your corner.”

"Very true. Uncle Groot's very protective of me, too. Meaning he wouldn't hesitate to snap YOU like a twig if you so much as looked at me wrong." Kat said, clicking something on the back of the rifle, before it could be heard powering down. "Alright, Jason... so, from your name..... I'm gonna guess you're Lita's brother from some other reality or something?"

It took Jason a moment to remember Lita. Just because he wasn’t thinking of his conversation on the network. “No, we’re not brother and sister,” he shook his head, in any universe. She says I’m an alternate version of her dad.” Which was super weird because they seemed like they were the same age.

"....NUH-UH." Kat blurted out, before erupting into a giggle-fit. "You're the widdle Red Hood! I love it!"

"That's the version of you that's Lita's dad. He's all 'loner bad-ass vigilante' and stuff." She said, finally calming down enough to talk. "Sorry dude. Wasn't trying to laugh at you... it's just seeing him as a kid is REALLY funny."

Jason saw that as he had a bit in common with this other version of him. He didn't expect that to happen. Thinking that they would be completely different. "Guess I might actually have something in common with this other guy," It was still weird to talk about this other version. "I'm not a kid," and he definitely wouldn't be one here. Living with Bruce Wayne was one thing but he wasn't even sure who he would be stuck with here. He was going to stick by saying that he was an adult.

".........a'ight." Kat said, with a smirk. If this kid wanted to pretend he was an adult, who was she to argue? "Still.... gotta admit you're pretty cool. Had a flarkin' gun pointed at your head and you didn't even break a sweat."

There was no way Jason was going to be placed with anyone. It was better if he was an adult and could live on his own. It wasn't like he couldn't take care of himself. "I've had some practice with people shooting at me. It doesn't really scare me," he said as he looked to the gone she had. "You seem pretty cool too." After a meeting like that it was hard for her not to seem cool. It wasn't like he had met anyone quite like her before.

"Hm. Maybe we'll hang out sometime." Kat said, giving him a playful wink. "Maybe. If you're lucky."

"Maybe," Jason said with a smirk on his face as he looked to the brunette. "Only if you're lucky." It was just as fun to say as it was to hear when she had said it just a moment ago.
