Charlotte had arrived on Galador less than an hour ago, barefoot and dressed in her sleepwear. She was greeted by Bea Wilson, who decided to escort her to her love while explaining the how and why ("fuck knows") of arriving on a different planet in an alternate universe. She took the news better than most. She could just as easily assume that Bea was fucking with her, but she doubted it. She took a steadying breath (not that she needed it) as she approached the doors to the apartment building that Amber currently lived in. "She's really been here for two months?" Bea had checked for her and it just about broke Charlotte's heart. For her, it had been an hour. But two months? It shook her to her core. She pursed her lips together thoughtfully. "As much as I don't care about an audience right now, she probably will," she warned, meeting Bea's eyes to convey her meaning.
"About, yeah." Bea replied, leading her to the entrance of the building. "And dude. No offense taken. You go make that girl's life." She found herself a bit impressed with Amber in that moment. What the hell did that girl possess that let her somehow end up with this woman??? "Let me know if you ever wanna get a drink or anything."
"I'll probably need a few days. Maybe a week." Charlotte glanced at Bea with a wry smile, figuring she'd get her meaning. She hit the buzzer to be let up to the apartment. "Although I'd be a fool to say no to a Princess."
Meanwhile, Amber, who was gloriously ignorant to the fact that Charlotte was even here, was curled up on the sofa in her favorite baggy black pajamas, hair tied into pigtails as she read Lord of the Rings. Again. Shush. It was comfort to her. Like spending time with old friends. "Pennyyyyyy.... do you mind getting that? I'm really comfy right now..."
"No problem sweetie," Penny replied. She'd planned to go out herself, although was dressed down for once in simple jeans and a cardigan. She answered the buzzer. "If this is Avon calling then we're not interested," she joked.
Charlotte quirked an eyebrow, more irritated than amused. "No. This is Charlotte. And you'd better buzz me up right the fuck now, Penny."
"... Amber!" Penny called, buzzing Charlotte up to the apartment, not one to be told twice. "You've got a visitor!"
"....I do?" the younger vampire asked with a confused blink. She only knew a select few people here so far, and the ones she did still didn't know where she lived. She hopped up, carefully closing her book and setting it on the coffee table (it was the deluxe illustrated hardcover, ok?) before starting to walk over. "Who the heck even knows where I live?"
Boy, was Amber sure in for a surprise, huh? Penny just gave Amber a playful shrug, glad that she'd decided to go out. She doubted that she could bear to see this reunion. Especially when she longed for one of her own. After a few minutes pause, there was a light knock at the door.
Amber shuffled over to the door, brow furrowed, and blinked. Wait... that scent... could it be? Her eyes widened, and she threw the door open, tears already in her eyes. And there she was: the one person in the world that Amber loved more than anyone else. "....Charlotte.....you're really here...." Was all she could croak out before practically collapsing into her lover's arms, sobbing deeply. She wasn't sad, of course.... but she hadn't let herself cry since showing up here, and Charlotte's appearance made it finally, FINALLY, feel safe to let it all out.
Charlotte held her, swaying them on the spot as she peppered sweet kisses to the top of Amber's head. "I'm here now. I'm here," she cooed. Two months might not seem like a long time to some, but it was long enough for Amber it seemed. Charlotte continued to hold her, letting her take as much time as she needed to let it all out.
"I thought I'd never see you again..." Amber whimpered, nuzzling her face against the swell of her breasts. "I thought I'd be alone and scared forever..." The girl was clearly panicked, and yet quickly calming down. "I love you so much.... I would've waited forever for you..."
"Thankfully you didn't have to, darling," Charlotte replied softly. She glanced over at Penny (who was standing a few feet away with a little smile on her face).
"Annnnd that's my cue to leave." Penny quickly manoeuvered around the pair to make a hasty escape.
"C'mon," Charlotte purred. "Let's sit down, hmm?"
Amber nodded silently, sniffling as she let the other woman guide her to the sofa. "My girl found me...." Amber sighed happily, as if just realizing something. "You told me a long time ago that you'd always find me, no matter what.... and you really did..."
Sitting down, Charlotte tugged Amber over to her so she could hold her. "I'm not letting you out of my sight," she promised. She hated the thought of Amber being alone.
"I'm unsurprisingly ok with that." Amber laughed through sniffles, feeling as though all was right with her world again. She didn't really care where or even WHEN she was. As long as Charlotte was with her? Nothing else mattered. "You'd be proud... I've at least been trying to make friends..." She said, not even needing to add the last part: 'not very successfully'.
Charlotte smiled softly. "Well, I'll have to meet these people to determine whether or not they're worthy of your time," she purred. She lazily trailed her fingertips through Amber's hair, finding comfort in it. "We'll go out together eventually," she promised. Right now she much preferred to keep Amber where she could see her.
"Eventually." Amber agreed, nuzzling into the other vampire. Right now, she wanted nothing more than to have her entire world be nothing but the two of them. "Caiti is here.... it's a slightly different version of her... but she's here. And we talked, and it made me think of how you held me when we watched her and Jodi get married, and I almost fell apart again."
"Were you still attracted to her?" Charlotte couldn't help it but ask curiously. She'd never held any jealousy towards the other women in Amber's life, to be fair. She continued lightly petting Amber. "Why would you fall apart, my darling?"
"Oh goodness. Of course. She's aged into an amazingly gorgeous woman." Amber told her, not even hesitant to do so. Charlotte knew where Amber's heart rested. She may be attracted to Caitlyn... but she was in love with Charlotte. "And I was falling apart because I would think of us, together, and start to get afraid I'd never see you again."
No wonder it felt like Amber was practically vibrating in her skin, too overcome with emotion. Charlotte was both angry for being kept from her for so long and fiercely protective of her in that moment. "You don't have to worry anymore."
"I never worry when I'm with you." Amber said, without a moment's hesitation. It was true - she never felt more safe, and more comfortable, than she did around her lover. Charlotte may not have been her sire.... but she was definitely her savior.
Charlotte smiled. She continued petting Amber's hair silently for a moment before saying: "Penny isn't... overly fond of this sofa, is she?"
"I hope not..." Amber giggled, nibbling her bottom lip. "Cos I think she's gonna need to replace it ASAP. I wanna show you JUST how bad I missed you."
Charlotte grinned broadly and leaned over to kiss Amber. Hopefully they'd find their rhythm again now that Charlotte was here, but only time would tell.
