Who: Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield
When: Sunday March 10, around 1 pm.
Where: Jessica's apartment
What: A meeting of the minds

Elizabeth hated that she felt nervous as she walked down the hallway towards Jessica's apartment. This was her twin sister, for Pete's sake! Her best friend and the only one she ever felt truly comfortable around. Yet she was as nervous as she would be to meet a stranger for a story interview.

Yeah, except this is Jessica from the future who is married to your boyfriend Todd Wilkins and they have a two-year-old son! her thoughts reminded her.

"Shut up!" Liz said out loud to quiet her thoughts. Thankfully there was no one around and she then knocked on the door.

Elizabeth wondered why she was even here. It wasn't like anything changed between now and when she and Jessica first saw each other a couple of weeks ago. What else was there to discuss? Nevertheless, she was here, if for nothing else, to gain more clarity.

"Hey!" Liz greeted Jessica when the door opened.

"Well, you could say that. New and old, kind of." Jessica said in her typical Jessica way about her.

"Well, who knows maybe even Amy Sutton will pop up here someday." She joked.

She nodded, gulped. "I do. I mean, in my time, you understand it now, the way we feel about each other. It's strange seeing you now that you don't get it again. And I can't give you details to mess up the past." She admitted, frowning.

Now Elizabeth was intrigued. "You can't leave me hanging like that, Jess. He's my brother, too!" she giggled.

"That's a name I haven't heard in a long time," she said, examining her nails for dirt, even though they were totally clean. She was still feeling uneasy and hearing Jessica defend and proudly explain her feelings for Todd to her face wasn't making anything easier.

"I don't understand it Jess, and quite frankly I'm hurt by it. I'm trying to keep it at bay, because I have no clue how this has come about, and you're more important to me than anyone, Todd included. But can you for once in your life put yourself in my shoes? Imagine being a freshman in college and plucked out of your normal life to meet your sister from the future, who's married to your current boyfriend and has a son with him. And then not even knowing why, just wandering around a strange place forever confused and heartbroken? And I'm supposed to just deal with that?" Liz felt anger boiling in her chest again and took a few seconds to calm down.

"I know you want to protect the past, and that little boy," she said, much softer so Jake wouldn't hear. "But have you ever considered the fact that we may never be at home again? What's the point in protecting the past if we'll never get home to protect it? I'm not telling you to tell me you and Todd's whole love story. Spare me those details. I just want to know what changed. What made him love you instead of me?" her voice cracked unexpectedly. "You two hate each other in my time."

Jessica laughed and shrugged thinking about it a moment. "You might be right, Lizzie. I mean we might never get back home. Or the homes that we came from." She confused herself on that one.

She sighed. "I know. I mean, it's crazy to me to look at you at 18 again, before you hated me then love me again. That's the worst part is that I don't know how to tell you and watch you hate me again while you get over Todd and I a second time." She admitted.

"But it happened later on in college, and it wasn't just a fling. I always liked Todd but I forgot about it for a while so that you and Todd could be happy. But it has always been Todd for me, too." She said, sadly, pleading to her sister.

There was pure love in Jessica's eyes but unfortunately, this version of Liz had that same look in her eyes about Todd.

Elizabeth felt like Jessica wasn't telling her everything about her relationship with Todd. Why did she keep saying that Liz hated her? Hated her then loved her again? Elizabeth was many things, but she wasn't hateful, especially to her twin. And Jessica had done many horrible things.

Unless there was a valid reason for the hate; had she caught Jessica with Todd in the future? Were her and Todd planning to marry in the future, but ended up catching Jessica with him? Nah, it couldn't be that, that was too diabolical, even for Jessica. But then again...

"I could never hate you Jess," Elizabeth said. It was genuine, but she was also saying it to drown out the negative thoughts in her head. "I do want to know why you never told me. I mean, Todd and I had so many breakups when we were young," she laughed sadly. "And I had so many other boyfriends. Maybe we could've straightened this out long ago."

"But then again... through all of those boyfriends, it was always Todd for me," she shrugged sadly. "Still is. And now we're both here without him, probably forever. Who really wins here?"

Jessica sighed and could only imagine what her twin was thinking. She shrugged. "It's just it took us so long in your future to get back to how we were. You were so angry with me for a long time." She confessed. "But you did go to the wedding." She added.

They had been caught but not in a sexual sense, but Lizzie knew her and Todd so well that she just knew something was going on. Plus her ex-husband Regan had forced the idea into Lizzie's head. She scowled.

"I could never hate you either, Lizzie." She said, genuinely, quietly for her.

"We probably could have..." But since it happened because you forced me to go to a party with him one night that you couldn't make and then pretending to be you got the best of me... "But I didn't know how to tell you. And neither did Todd. And plus it was only the one time until we couldn't take it any longer." She tried to explain.

She shrugged. "I don't know. I mean, whichever Todd comes here, if either, well, I guess that person gets him, right? In theory?" She shrugged again.

Elizabeth was admittedly shocked when Jessica said she'd gone to see her and Todd marry. Just the idea of them together was making her sick to her stomach. She couldn't imagine being at the wedding of her twin sister to her ex-boyfriend. But then again, that was good old Elizabeth Wakefield. Putting others' happiness above her own, her twin most of all.

She didn't show this shock to Jessica though; instead she simply nodded.

"I guess so," she finally said after a moment.

And may the best twin win, she thought to herself.

She knew that look on her twin's face even though she tried to hide it and frowned. Her heart hurt knowing she had hurt her sister again. Jessica was more intuitive than she had used to be.

"Maybe we should take a step back for now and in a few days get together again.." She suggested.

"Sounds good," Elizabeth said. She wasn't sure why, but she felt like something monumental was going to happen in a few days' time and a meeting would be needed.

"I'll see you soon," she said, hugging Jessica perhaps a bit awkwardly before turning to go.

"See you soon Lizzie. I love you." She said, before watching her sister walk off.

"I love you too," Elizabeth said, before truly leaving the apartment. As hard as it was with everything she'd learned the past few weeks, she truly did.
