Amber clung tightly to him. She wasn't the type of woman who was great with expressing emotions a lot of the time, but everything she was feeling was conveyed through the desperation in that hug. She'd never say it out loud, but she was terrified.
"Yeah," she nodded, trying to ignore the headache forming from exhaustion and low blood sugar. She couldn't remember the last time she'd eaten. "They were closing in on the hospital. But something stopped them." She hadn't heard just who it had been yet, or how it had all happened. The details would come later, she was sure.
"But I'm glad you made it in." She brushed some of his hair out of his eyes and leaned in to kiss him.
