"Don't I look okay?" Star laughed and held the back of Tyler's head. She scratched lightly with her fingernails. It was difficult to put two thoughts together, the way he was breathing all that human-hot breath into her shirt. It made her remember what Victoria said about being careful, because Tyler played with fire, and vampires and fire didn't mix,
It sure as hell didn't feel that way now.
"I feel fantastic," she said. Except for the hunger, and the wild urge to hunt humans down like a good shoe sale. "Were you worried about me?" Tracing his earlobe, Star began to smile wider. "I'm not going anywhere for a looong time. Well, except to Texas for a little vacation. I've need to pay a visit to a She-devil I like to call 'mom'." Star's eyes sought the ceiling. Mom, and whatever man was this year's main squeeze.
Killing wasn't on the itenerary, but she might as well have herself a snack. As long as Vivian was bleeding the man dry, Star might as well join in the fun.
