Corbett had a sudden urge to get back to London.
Only problem was, there was a potential crisis of sorts brewing in Searchlight, and in spite of his decided lack of Slayer at the moment, the Watcher felt compelled to at least see this bit of research through to the end -- even if said finale involved lots of Corbett's blood and an eventual stopping of heartbeat.
Then again, that would probably send him back to London. Permanently.
The Watcher felt uneasy -- to put it kindly -- about the existence of another Corruptress, and the more he learned, the less easy he felt. From everything Corbett read, Atia was Elfleda's superior in so many ways, and if one were to rummage through his notes, one would find such statements as "Atia will drink Elfleda's milkshake."

Having hit a roadblock in his research, Corbett felt it prudent to bounce some of his material off another set of ears, and see if anyone else knew something he probably didn't. The Watcher hadn't done a good job over the past two years of using all the resources available to him in this decidedly not-normal desert town, but if it meant getting rid of the Corruptress, he'd get back on the ball.
Because if his experiences with Elfleda were any indication, the Watcher never wanted to lay eyes on Atia aside from the aged photos adorning his tomes.
Corbett knocked on the door, hoping Whistler would be in tonight. Though he was traditionally a patient man, Corbett wanted this scenario wrapped as soon as possible. And if Whistler knew anything that might help. So long as nothing else of importance sprang up.
