Draco & Narcissa Malfoy WHO: Draco & Narcissa WHAT: Draco wants cuddling and spoiling from his mummy. WHERE: Her cottage RATING: PG
Draco experienced some rough days in the aftermath of his aunt’s stunt. He felt ashamed of her actions, but also couldn’t help taking offense to the growing distrust among the townsfolk which made him despise dear Aunt Bellatrix further. He hadn’t thought it possible and maybe it wasn’t fair considering she was now seventeen, but she was the source of so many of his nightmares. Still, he hated when someone made a comment about “Death Eaters” because he felt like it lumped them all together, even those who might truly feel repentance. Did he have a right to feel that way? Likely no, but how could he help it?
Bellatrix wasn’t the only one weighing on his mind. Lucius and Severus were both in his life again which meant he needed to find a way to accept, if not forgive, the past. However, he had a hard enough time forgiving his own actions so how could he possibly forgive anyone else? He was pretty sure Lucius wouldn’t believe he needed forgiving anyway. Maybe he didn’t. No one held Draco against his will while he was Marked.
Then there was Harry. Draco didn’t know how to act around him. He and Hermione forged something akin to a bond, but Draco wouldn’t call it friendship. His feelings for Harry were even more complicated. He didn’t hate him. He hadn’t since the end of their sixth year. If anything, he started to understand his position more clearly then. However, getting on with him would take work.
It was exhausting working so hard at relationships. He wasn’t accustomed to it. He was grateful for Colin and Astoria who seemed to understand him and give him room when he needed. Scorpius had been good at that too. Merlin, he missed his son. Even so, there was one person Draco depended on unfailingly. That person? His mother.
Narcissa Malfoy never disappointed her son. He never doubted his worth where she was concerned or felt like he needed to be someone else to earn her affection and approval. Sure, Draco turned eighteen nearly six months ago, but he never outgrew needing his mum. She made him feel special when no one else did. For that reason, he tried to pop over often since her arrival though life sometimes got in the way. Most recently, Lucius arrived so Draco gave the pair space. However, he didn’t care if he risked seeing Lucius before Lucius beckoned him. It had been several days and Draco wanted his mother so he walked directly to her cottage when he finished his work for the day.
