Lucius sat back in his chair and sighed, "I fear I phrased that rather... indelicately. I never doubted for a second your role as a mother, you were always the better parent - to put it lightly. I'm deeply troubled to know how much I put you and our son through, please don't doubt that." He offered up a small smile by way of apology. "What I had meant, was that I couldn't see myself returning to the Dark Lord behind your back. Not after what I - what we, went through. I find it...unsettling that you had no part to play, you are my wife after all." he paused, "though I suppose it's not entirely improbable..." Giving his past behaviour, it wouldn't have been uncharacteristic of Lucius to don his mask without his wife's knowledge. Though he had rather hoped he had learned his lesson. He must have thought it were worth it, unless it were out of fear. Perhaps both.
