About that boy . . .
Who: Harry Potter and Severus Snape
What: A discussion of Albus Severus Potter
Where: The apothecary
When: Wednesday afternoon, 19 September
((eta, ooc: Mention of Albus Severus's behaviour was discussed with his writer due to a temporary hiatus. I have attempted to take no liberties but will edit as needed/requested.))
For these few days since his arrival here, Severus had spent most of his time in the apothecary, in part out of necessity for his own health. In addition to daily doses of the Blood Replenishing Potion, he was also dosing himself with a general nutrition restorative. He'd not been eating or sleeping well for months that last year of the war.
Besides those personal things, he was also sorting and organising the shelves to his own personal preference. Additionally, he liked some of the prep-work for common potions to be done in advance, and was anticipating the mindless drudgery involved. It was the one and only time he missed the miscreants and their detention-earning ways.
Because, really, who in their right mind would voluntarily spend their days chopping, grinding and mincing potions ingredients? Apparently, a Potter.
One Albus Severus Potter to be specific. He popped into the shop shortly after Severus took over, had the audacity to ask Severus if he wanted a hug (which Severus declined awkwardly) and then proceeded to stand at Severus's elbow asking a constant stream of (not unintelligent) questions.
And occasionally knocking over vials, bottles, and carefully measured ingredients not yet bottled.
Severus had sternly informed him that only those able and willing to work were permitted behind the counter, at which point the boy had beamed at him and agreed, eagerly.
The Potter boy didn't seem to have any natural aptitude for the art, but he had a great deal of enthusiasm. It only took a few redirections to get him to do things properly, and over-all Severus wasn't opposed to his presence - but it wasn't natural for him to want to be there.
Hence the reason he summoned the boy's father - admittedly only a handful of years older than the boy himself.
