If there was one thing Hannah knew how to do, it was how to use cleaning to avoid any semblance of feeling. As a result she had taken the chance to clean her new place top to bottom. She still hadn't had any interactions with her house mate, not that she wanted one after the reception she'd received from his grandmother, or at least that was who she thought had verbally attacked her in her journal. So maybe she wasn't wording things quite right, but did that really give others the right to jump all over her. Had they all been here so long that they'd forgotten the shock of not being home. Forgotten the shock of meeting people that were supposed to be dead?
That morning she was up and out of the house before dawn. She didn't even know if her house mate was home, nor did she care. Hannah missed the normalcy of her life and had decided that throwing herself into her new job at the bakery was probably the best way to deal with things. At least waiting on customers was an activity that linked her back to her real life.
She arrived early enough that there was time to completely wipe out and sanitize the display cases. Hannah even cleaned off all the displays and reconfigured the windows to try and draw the customers in with a slightly new look. When that was all done she baked up the day's menu and finished just as it was time to open for breakfast.
Finally, the morning crowd had thinned and the lull between breakfast and lunch hit. Hannah knew she had to keep herself busy or her thoughts would drive her insane. She kept herself busy by creating a set of vanilla biscuits to add to the lunch rush. As they baked she hand whipped some creme to top them off. Once it was perfect she pulled out a jar of cherries that she needed to pit and cut in half to top the design with.
While she placed her biscuits on the display tray the chime on the door rang as a new customer entered. Hannah looked up and offered a tired smile. "What can I get for you?"
