[Started in Gdocs and continued in thread]
Lily was going to be late! It wasn’t that Lily had meant to, but she’d got distracted in the bookstore again, her friends having left her there to go back to the castle at least an hour ago. She swore under her breath as she ran through the cobblestone streets of Hogsmeade. She thought she’d charmed her watch to make all sorts of obnoxious noises an hour before the curfew, but it hadn’t. It wasn’t until the shopkeeper cleared her throat impatiently did she realize that she was the only one left in the store. Really it was the same every Hogsmeade weekend.
It had been lightly snowing almost the whole day, but now the snow seemed blinding. The chilly wind made her cheeks red, and she tried to readjust the hood on her jacket as she ran. She skidded on some ice, and slid for what seemed an exceptionally long time, and when she finally got her bearings it had suddenly stopped snowing, in fact, the only thing that proved the snow had even existed were the flakes that clung to her hair and clothing.
This was… weird. She pursed her lips and let out a gust of air. This was not good, she was going to miss curfew and get expelled. She took another deep breath, letting her hood down at the noticeably warmer weather, and rushing forward to a person with his back to her.
“Excuse me!” She called to him, tapping on his back, “Excuse me. I’m lost and I need to get back to the castle.” Lily knew there wasn’t a village between Hogsmeade and the castle, had she run the wrong way? Towards a village that was passed Hogsmeade? Surely there was one, but why would the weather be so drastic?

It had been a rough week. The crazy weather finally settled, but the deaths took a toll on Draco. It was his own fault for letting his guard down. He was stupid to think he deserved happiness. He lost most of his family, not to mention other loved ones, to the elements. Sure, they might return, but in what form? Only Merlin knew. He wouldn’t push them; he already made the decision. He’d offer a hello and let them be in the village. His Healer was wrong. He didn’t deserve anything better, not even in a stupid magical village. Somehow his future seemed good, but it was far off and in another place. Draco couldn’t think about that. He concentrated on the village and pretended he was okay. If he could fake it, he could make it. Eventually, right?
He slipped out when he could. He was trying to be there for the people left, but it was hard when so much misery weighed on him. Still, he was careful not to go into the forest. He hated the bloody woods.

He was about to head back when he felt someone tap him. He squinted down. “Lilu,” he said quietly. She was younger than he recalled, but it was definitely her. His heart ached in a way that reminded him he couldn’t get rid of his feelings no matter how hard he tried. “Oh, sweetheart, you are lost alright, but Hogwarts is a ways off, I am afraid.”
Lily visibly relaxed when she saw that it was Mister Malfoy in front of her. It was strange of course, and brought a new wave of questions, but it was certainly a relief to see someone she knew. If anyone could help her, even if it were just to explain what had happened after he took her back to the castle, she was certain it was Scorpius’ father. She allowed herself to give him a short smile.
“Did you come to see Scorpius at Hogsmeade?” She asked him. That was rather sweet, wasn’t it? “I’m afraid I was running back to the castle and I… I must have tripped on a portkey?” It was the only thing she could think of, even if it didn’t make sense. It was the only thing she knew of that could transfer a person like that. “I don’t… know where I am, but I’m afraid I’m going to miss curfew.” It would just be her luck that she’d trip over a portkey and miss curfew and get expelled and then what would her parents think? How would she ever find a job then? She’d be living in her parents house for the rest of her life!
She wrung her hands in front of her, fiddling with a thread at the finger of her gloves. “What do you mean It’s a long way off? How far did I go?” She allowed herself to peer around them, wherever they were it didn’t seem like much.

Draco knew the girl must be frazzled if she thought he looked old enough to have a teenaged son. Regardless, he knew she saw him as an adult so he pushed aside his worries to focus on Potter’s daughter. She was more than that though. She had been a friend before and she was still family to him whatever the circumstances now. “I am afraid you didn’t trip, Lily. This is a little hard to explain, but you know I wouldn’t lie to you, yes?” He hoped she knew anyway. He held a hand out. “It might be easier to show you, easier for you to understand.” Merlin, he hoped she trusted him. Albus obviously did, but Draco wasn’t sure about his siblings in their time. But, really, how else was he going to explain this mess without taking her through the village?

Lily was confused, and vaguely panicked, and completely uncomfortable in the strange new place where she knew she should not be. She didn’t take Draco’s hand immediately, which had less to do with whether or not she trusted him and more to do with the pure strangeness of the whole afternoon thus far. She didn’t know what to expect, and his insistence that she would need to be shown rather than told made her equal parts curious and nervous. Still, going deeper into the village with him was a far better alternative to waiting by herself where she was currently standing.
“Alright. But where are we going?”
