"You too, huh?" George chuckled at Cho's comment about getting married, though his heart wasn't in it. He didn't really think it was funny. He didn't know what he thought about it anymore, other than knowing that for whatever reason it happened, but he was getting tired of fighting with himself over it every day. Oh, but he could say that all day long and he knew that, at the end of the day, he'd wake up the next morning and tell fate to go fuck itself all over again.
Even with the power he had now running the village, it still hadn't fully set in yet that maybe this really would be the rest of his life. Maybe he would be able to keep Fred and marry Alicia and do what he wanted. Except where did that leave Roxanne and his son? And that was always where he tripped over complicated guilt and anxiety. "It's definitely weird learning that," George agreed, picking up the conversation as if he hadn't just gone on a mental diatribe once again. "It's all right. It's awkward for everybody, but I understand it all too well. You can talk to me about it if you ever need someone who won't judge you."
Merlin knew how sometimes George kept things to himself because, as much as he loved his family, sometimes he felt awfully judged for his choices since he had arrived in the village.
"You were pretty torn up about that." George recalled. At school he might have joined in on the human hosepipe jokes, but after having been through something similar, well... it wasn't even remotely funny anymore. "But I'm glad he's here too. For your sake. I hope things work out with you two, whatever it is you want to work out."
Serious-George was a rare thing to behold, but anything was possible. He adjusted the sack on his shoulder which held the rope, tarp, and other things they'd need to build a tree fort.
