Eddie/Sally - What If WHO: Sally & Edgar Bones WHERE: Their cottage WHAT: Figuring stuff out. WHEN: Saturday, October 18th (backdated) RATING: PG NOTE: For What If Plot; started in gdocs, tbc
Sally was an early riser. As a mum and wife, she always made sure she was up, showered, and dressed in enough time to wake everyone else and serve breakfast. However, for the last years in the village, she only had her teen daughter to tend to. She was used to it, but she still missed her husband and son. She particularly missed falling asleep in Eddie’s arms and waking up next to him. Granted, his job had often pulled him away for some emergency or other, but going a few nights apart was different from years.
She still slept on her side of the bed and usually didn’t move much. That morning wasn’t any different. She woke without an alarm, yawned, and pulled herself into a sitting position. She stretched, but as she glanced over, her eyes widened and she screamed.
**** Edgar was in the middle of a very pleasant dream when the screaming erupted. Eddie had been living a very routine life in the village and though it had it’s moments of catastrophic near destruction, it was nothing compared to the war. Of course, when someone was screaming bloody murder in your ear, all of those ingrained war tendencies came flying back to them in a second.
In a flash, Edgar was half jumping, half falling out of bed the blankets tangling around his legs as he grabbed for the wand on the bed stand. “Who---?” Eddie started to shout, his wand pointing at the other person in the room before he’d fully comprehended who it was. “Sally?!”
In that second there was a wave of nauseousness that came over him, mixed with an odd sort of relief and hope. She was screaming, and that brought back memories he’d rather forget. But she was here, and she didn’t look hurt. “Sally, Honey, It’s Eddie. I’m so glad you’re here.” He moved slowly toward her, attempting not to startle her. He understood how weird it could be waking up in this village. “Are you okay?”
****
“Eddie! Eddie! You are here!” Tears streamed down her face. “I waited so long and I almost thought you’d never arrive and now, oh, you are here!” She threw her arms around him for a moment before pulling back to land a long kiss right on his lips. “Merlin, I missed this. You. I love you, please never leave me again.”
