WHO Godric Gryffindor and Harry Potter
WHAT Meeting! Well. Re-meeting for Godric, meeting for Harry.
WHERE/WHEN By the lake, after lunchtime on Friday.
RATING/NOTES PG?
Of course, Godric had only seen a moving picture--photograph was the word--of what a carousel actually was, but it was enough to stand out in his memory and recall it now; people came and went almost every other week it seemed, though the pattern seemed to have slowed down for the moment. And that was all right enough. The people he cared about the most had, for the most part, always stayed.
The bright spot in all of this ambivalence about the village was getting to meet his students from the future. By now Godric knew that his sword (which, as always, was hitched on to his belt at his side) would be pulled from his hat by his students in times of dire need, though each time a student came or went, he liked hearing the story over again as if for the first time; he liked hearing about his father's village, his childhood home, which would one day take his name: Godric's Hollow. He liked speaking to them as person to person, seeing in them the things that the magic saw to sort them into his house.
Godric had no children and by now he knew that he never would, but the pride and love he had for Hogwarts and its students was the closest thing to parental pride and love he would ever know. He sat by the lake, resting casually back against the trunk of a huge, looming tree whose branches came down like an old green canopy, and chipping away with a small knife at a piece of wood. Beside him sat other pieces that he had already carved. Eventually, the pieces would come together, but for now, they lay strewn about the grass.
