Gellert's piercing blue gaze moved in the direction of Guy when he spoke, a friendly grin slowly materialising onto his lips. He silently appreciated that Guy seemed to actually be interested in the walk, as opposed to just humouring him on his birthday. "Guy," he greeted. The mention of a birthday present made his eyes light up in curiosity, but he knew that knowing what it was could wait until he went home, which would only be when his surprise had vacated the village. "You have my thanks. I shall be certain to collect it once I return to the house."
He leant down and picked up the backpack then, which had still been resting against the side of his leg, and pulled one of the straps over his right shoulder so that he could carry it easily but still have his left hand free for his wand. He wasn't anticipating trouble while on the walk but he knew there was considerable wildlife around once you got a good distance out into the countryside.
"I have studied maps of this place but I thought we could just walk and see where it takes us. It is not like we could get terribly lost and, even if we did, it might be a blessing," Gellert explained, the grin on his face changing from friendly to cheeky. He looked around the immediate area and picked a direction, then began to walk slowly while under the assumption that Guy would follow him. "I imagine you are probably wondering why I invited you today, of all days, despite the fact that its my birthday."
