Despite being a wizard himself, Aberforth knew well the terror that magic could instill in a person if used correctly. He could have handled it one of two ways of course, either by throwing himself into the magical world and learning everything there was to know about magic so he would never fall victim to it again or by casting himself out so he would never cross paths with it again or face any cruel reminders of what it had taken and what had been done to him. He had, of course, gone with the latter. His return to the magical world had only been these past two years and he still sometimes found it odd. He felt much safer in the muggle world, a strange claim to make given the things he had been through and the war he had fought, but it was true. At least there you could see what was coming. A mist would not roll in one day and rip you from the ground, turn your world upside down and give you no say in the matter.
It did not take long to find Arabella, but when he did his heart broke. He knew well how she must feel. Not exactly, but he could relate very well. All at once he was back in his family home with Gellert at the front. It was a terrifying prospect and this was probably no less terrifying for her. Moving to Arabella at once, he crouched in front of her and tried to think of how best to comfort her. He could not rid them of the fog, but she would not have to suffer it alone. "Arabella-" he spoke softly, gently placing a hand on her elbow to steady her. "It's alright. You're safe. I won't let anything happen to you. I promise." And it was a promise he intended to keep. Arianna had told him that the board was working on getting rid of this fog as soon as it appeared. Hopefully it would not be long, and he had supplies. "The Board is working to rid us of this fog as we speak and until it leaves I will be here with you."
