Translations. That sounded like serious work. As far as foreign languages went he could speak German fluently as well as some French and Italian, but even then he could not read the latter two very well certainly not enough to translate them. "Translations?" he repeated, sounding as impressed as he could though it did not translate well in his voice. "How many languages do you know?" he inquired, wondering for the first time how many languages it was possible for one person to know fluently. How did she manage to keep them all straight in her head for one thing? How could she tell which was which on paper? Weren't some languages supposed to be quite similar?
"I only speak two fluently, two partially." he admitted, though he had not learned though diligent study. He had not attended a private school or been seen to by private tutors. His knowledge had come to him over the course of his life and it was as simple as that.
