Whoever she was, she was difficult to read. The last thing he expected her to do was laugh in response to him. He didn't think anything about what he said could be construed as funny, but perhaps there was a joke he was missing out on. There was something endearing about her laughter though, perhaps it was the way she snorted and forced herself to cut off with a hand clapped over her nose and mouth, attempting to refine herself despite already giving herself away. Aberforth had no time for appearances, but he granted her that since she was making the effort. When she finally did introduce herself, he was surprised to find that he actually did recognize her name, at least he recognized her last name. It was no surprise that he did not recognize her first name, considering the year gap she provided.
Even stranger was how pleased she seemed to see him. He was unused to that. He rarely, if ever, made positive impressions. The only people he had a positive relationship with, outside of Sidney, were the men in his unit and even some of them thought him a hardass. But here was this strange woman, from a Pureblood family, in the middle of a muggle store, looking at him with a smile, of all things, plastered across her face. It was very disorienting. "It's- a pleasure to meet you." he finally managed to get out, working through his confusion to properly greet her. "I don't know much about the future, no. Know about a war during that time, someone told me I fought in it." He still woke up with flashbacks from the Great War, He couldn't imagine fighting in a magical war when he rarely even used his wand. "S'that what you're talking about, Miss Figg?"
