The voice gave him pause, youthful as it was. Aberforth took a moment to finish with the glasses he had started on before turning to the boy that was now sitting at the bar. His face remained neutral which was its default setting for the most part, taking a moment to look at him before clearing his throat and nodding his head jerkily at him in greeting. He didn't recognize him which was nothing new in this place. Back home he recognized almost everyone that came through the Hog's Head save the few new drifters that stopped in every once in a while. Here though, every face was a new face and Aberforth had to place each and every one of them himself. It was a bit odd, because part of his mind thought to ask him for ID to prove he was old enough, but that would do nothing here. There was no set year and even if there was, there was no way this boys ID would match up with it because he was born outside it. Or, at least, Aberforth thought he was? His mind was still working it out. "You old enough to be in here?" he asked, straight to the point as usual.
The kid looked like he was having a rough time and Aberforth didn't want to make it any rougher, but he also wasn't about to serve anyone underage. Lack of ID meant he would have to take his word for it since he seemed to be hovering right on that line that was inbetween. Plus, it wasn't like he hadn't been drinking since he was well underage so if he did lie about it, it wouldn't be the absolute end of the world.
