Who: Orion and Regulus Where: Outside the Apothecary When: Tuesday afternoon Summary: Meeting face to face. Rating: Low
Severus wasn't the only one who had taken notice of a feline hanging around the Apothecary. The calico kitten was hard to miss, let alone ignore. He, or she, seemed to be a social cat. Every time Regulus stepped out for a break, he would be greeted by the fur-ball brushing against his ankle.
Severus needn't know that, as the days went by and the cat remained, he had become a little attached. He began calling the calico Ulysses and brought milk along with bits of tuna to share during his lunch breaks. Regulus felt sorry for Ulysses. He didn't seem to have a home and looked underfed.
That day, Regulus decided to see if cats like chicken. Sitting outside the Apothecary, under the shade of the awning, he held out the offering in his palm. After one sniff, Ulysses cleared his hand. "I guess that settles that question," Regulus said, chuckling quietly to himself. "I'll have more tomorrow," he promised as the cat meowed for seconds.
Regulus knew how absurd he was, talking to a cat. He did not realize that anyone else was nearby to notice.
