A sympathetic expression in response to Guy's sour outlook about his brand new occupation might have been acceptable or the norm to most people but the corner of Gellert's lips twitched into a small smirk instead, being reminded yet again of the overall ineptitude of the Governing Board and their system for assigning occupations to new arrivals. "Sounds decidedly boring," he commented.
A dark scowl fell over Gellert's face then, as Guy spoke. "Yes. I was assigned the occupation of carpenter, charged with making and preparing building materials to be used either in the village or to further expand it, if and when more people arrive. It is nothing more then menial labour and not something I wish to associate myself with." His voice was practically dripping with disdain as he talked.
"In the interest of appearing to be a reasonable individual, however, I pretended to back down from my initial protests and have made it seem like I reconsidered the occupation." He let out a short laugh, amused by how easily he had manipulated the lot of them. "As if I could ever be manipulated so blatantly, and by such pathetic individuals. I sit behind this absurd occupation and use it only as a mechanism to cover up my true intentions."
"Name?" he asked before picking up his cup of tea, mildly intrigued to know whom this person was. He didn't miss the way in which Guy's jaw tensed up while he talked and that made him more curious.
