Who: Evan Rosier and Helena Ravenclaw What: Evan discovers that apparently Professor Slughorn has a strange place in his office. AKA Evan arrives. Helena finds him. Where: The Zoo When: 5 August. Rating: PG? Status: Incomplete/Ongoing
One moment, Evan was stepping into Professor Slughorn's office, preparing himself to tell the man about his idea and desire to be a duelist, and the next, he was... well, to be honest, he wasn't sure where he was. He knew it wasn't Slughorn's office, or if it was, someone had definitely messed with it. But he didn't think any of the students knew or had the skill required to transform Slughorn's office, and he especially doubted any of them were capable of... Looking around, it appeared as if there were an entire... an entire... place? Was that the word? There was sky and ground and trees and other assorted flora. Was world the right word? Planet? Universe? An entirely different location than the one he'd been heading to. That much he knew. That much his brain could wrap itself around.
But the why? The why wasn't there. It didn't register. Why would someone put an entire location in Professor Slughorn's office? Such a feat was too elaborate to be some studen'ts idea of a prank, and he couldn't reason out why a professor would do this, unless Slughorn enjoyed spending his time here when he thought no one would visit. But where was here?
Instinctually, he pulled his wand out as he looked around, trying to figure out what sort of place he'd stumbled upon. Grass, a pathway, and animals? He squinted his eyes slightly, tilting his head as he tried to figure out what kind of place had animals in... in... in enclosures. And then the word came to him; zoo. He'd never been to one, but he'd read about them. But this was not the time to play tourist, especially since that elephant over there in its enclosure didn't look particularly interested in a visitor. At least, he didn't think that elephant did. What did he really know about elephants and their thoughts on visitors? Either way, he knew it didn't want to stay here. Either it was a lot of magic that could horribly effect him, or it was something Slughorn wanted kept private. Both meant get out to him, and he turned around to leave.
There was one problem, however; the door had vanished. In its place sat a book on the ground
How had he missed the door disappearing? Now he really was trapped!
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, holding it for a few seconds before slowly letting it out. Don't panic, he told himself, pointing his wand at the book. He didn't want to touch it in case it was cursed, especially since it didn't seem to have any writing on the cover to indicate what kind of book it was. With a flick of his wrist, the cover opened, and he carefully crouched down when he saw something scrawled on the first page.
The village? Governing Board? Let everyone know you're here? What the hell? None of that made sense. Sure, he could read the words, and on their own, the little paragraph that.... well, he supposed that was meant to introduce him to this place on its own made sense, except not in the context of actually being here. And what did it mean about writing to people? He supposed if others were trapped in Slughorn's strange place in his office, it might be good to find them and figure out how to get out, but he wasn't so sure about writing to strangers. He couldn't see them. They could be anyone, and they could claim to be anyone, too. It was definitely suspicious, and he thought it might be some kind of dark magical artifact. He definitely didn't want to touch it.
A noise made him jump and spin, pointing is wand at someone approaching. Well, this answered the question of whether or not he was alone, but he didn't know if his company was friend or foe. "Who are you?" he asked, keeping his wand trained on this stranger. He told himself he wouldn't cast a spell unless she went for her wand or otherwise seemed to be a threat. That wouldn't stop him from keeping his wand at the ready, though. Never let your guard down, he thought, hoping he could get to the bottom of this without needing to use magic.
