Rodolphus was highly annoyed. He and Bellatrix had been on such different pages since his arrival. She had been younger and hadn't had the chance to know them as a couple yet in her time. Not that he would have expected her to have been all lovey dovey as it simply wasn't in her nature. In fact, he had always played second fiddle to her desire to please Lord Voldemort. True enough, he had wanted to bring about proper decorum but he'd always wanted a family more. The knowledge that such a thing never happened had weighed heavy on his heart. Mix that with the fact that Bellatrix saw his reaction to the news as weakness and you had a Rodolphus that was a bit more surly than usual.
Still, he tried to connect with her. In fact, he'd swung by her house that morning only to find that she was gone. Truly fuming for the first time in awhile he didn't even bother with pretense and dared anyone to challenge his foul mood today. "All for nothing," he growled as he walked along the street. "Every one of them died for nothing. We kill the Potters and their blasted brat steps up and makes it all for naught. Even in this place where everyone speaks of redemption nothing changes."
