As soon as the door opened, Susan took in as much as she could of her auntie before she found herself enveloped in a hug. She had missed her auntie's hugs. She hugged back, more out of reflex at first, but then out of need, holding her tightly as much as she could.
Then the facts hit her. Her previously dead auntie was very much alive. Very much younger - probably not too much older than Susan at this point - and also, very pregnant. Of course, when she was younger, Susan had always asked her auntie about cousins, but that had never come to fruition at home.
"Auntie," she breathed as she let go and was led inside, still trying to take her all in. "It's -- I can't believe you are here," she said, trying not to cry but unable to help the few tears that fell.
