Amelia was more than worried when she read Susan's journal entry. Of course she was somewhat aware of the mental anguish Susan suffered after losing Amelia herself as well as countless others during the second war, but actually seeing the toll it took on her in writing? Really with her crazy hormones the entire ordeal had her crying on the other end of her quill. Not that she would tell Susan that, she really didn't need to be more distressed than she already was after all.
So making tea and taking a tray of cookies she had made the day previously off the counter, she waited patiently for Dennis to bring her niece to her. Of course she was also worried about Susan's reaction to seeing her. Not only was she over a decade younger, but her ever expanding stomach gave way to something even more difficult to explain. But she would do what she could.
Hearing the knock she got up as quickly as her body would allow and walked over to the door, opening it and giving her niece a bright smile. "Susan, sweetheart," she said, stepping forward and pulling her into a hug. Well, as much as she could with her belly in between them. "It's so good to see you, you know," she assured her, taking her hand and ushering her inside. "I'm sure this is all... a lot," she said with a nod. "As you can see things are.. strange here. But I'll do the best I can at explaining whatever you'd like to know."
