Frankie groaned. Trust Albus to hit the proverbial nail of his suffering on the head. "Exactly!" he sighed dramatically. "That's probably the rule in their time, that you don't snog a girl unless you're planning on marrying her. And of course I don't want to marry her, but how do I explain that without sounding like I'm... I'm... I dunno, ruining her, or something." He made a distinctly distasteful face.
"And if I don't say anything it's like we're being sneaky about it. Which we are," he added belatedly. "At least, I am." He had no idea what Ava had said to anyone, if anything, and he didn't dare ask. "But only because it's all so bloody medieval and I don't know any of the rules."
He let out a loud frustrated breath. "Why are you not panicking?" he asked. "Helena's dad is almost as scary as Ava's, and he's at least still here."
