Perhaps what infuriated Rabastan the most about the history he had with his brother is he knew to a certain extent the pressure, the pain, and the wrath their father inflicted upon them, particularly Rodolphus. But the fact of the matter remained is if he had known his brother had taken the brunt of most of the man's anger in their younger years, he would have told him it was not his responsibility. Rodolphus was not in charge of protecting him, and if he felt the need too, if wasn't Rabastan's job to pay him back for it now in loyalty. Though of course, that was history to possibly be discussed later on, but for now, there was only anger and annoyance behind every mood Rabastan made against his brother.
As his fist collided with skin and bone, he felt the spell his brother had sent in his direction and hissed audibly. However it didn't throw him off for a second, and as his brother fell to the ground he dodged the second attempt at hexing him quite easily enough. Throwing a burning hex back in his direction, he moved in closer to the man on the ground and sneered in his direction. "Is that really the best you've got? Are you really so pathetic that you can only defend yourself with magic, and not your brute strength? Really brother, what have you become?" He clicked his tongue in disapproval, shaking his head. For all the months Evan had been in the village with him, Rabastan's skills in physical fighting as well as magical fighting had only increased, even more than his time back at home. For once then, he was perhaps his brother's equal if not better suited than him to be battling in that moment. The revelation left him feeling a sense of euphoria, and he truly believed that this fight was going to be his in the end.
"Better get up, don't you have a crazy witch to protect? You're letting her down by wasting precious time," he said with an evil smile, looking over in the direction Bella had been and laughing at how hard his brother was trying to defend a woman who could probably care less about him and his well being at that exact moment.
