Gideon greatly appreciated her letting him try to get the door open on his own. Perhaps he could've done something that she hadn't, and he had more leverage behind him than she had. Besides, it was a bit dangerous for her to try to ram a door open while she was pregnant, right? That's what Gideon thought. He realized she wouldn't be ramming into it with her stomach, but so what? Still, he was stubborn enough to want to find out for himself whether or not the door was actually stuck. And it was.
He sighed a little, mostly in frustration, even as her arms wrapped around him. He placed his hands on her hips and leaned down so Mel could reach him easier. Gideon couldn't stay very annoyed after that, even if he'd been annoyed at the situation and not at her - never at her. "Yeah, well, he'll have to make it last until we get out of here, unless there's someone else around who can feed him. Or he'll just get into the food on his own." That would be a wonderful mess they'd have to clean up. Then again, they'd probably have some messes of their own if they couldn't get to the toilet. Again, not something Gideon wanted to think about. They'd be out of there before that became an issue.
"Well, hopefully we won't be stuck here for too long," he said, letting his hands fall away from her as she moved back. "When was the last time you had anything to eat?" He could eat his way through that small refrigerator in about an hour, but she needed to eat more than he did. She needed to keep her nutrition up. "What are we going to do now?"
