By the time Amelia had started to panic, it was too late. He'd heard the click of the latch as clearly as a dinner bell, but he still didn't believe they were stuck. "Let me try," he said, edging between Mel and the door. He tried the handle, expecting it to give exactly the same way it just had - the way all doors do. It wouldn't budge an inch. He rammed it with his shoulder. Nothing happened. Gideon finally pulled out his wand and wordlessly cast the unlocking charm. Still nothing. "How the bloody hell is this happening?" Gideon asked, more to himself and the door than to his girlfriend. He wasn't panicking, but he was definitely confused and less resigned to their fates than she was.
"At least I fed the dog before I left," he sighed,, backing away from the door before he was tempted to blast the damn thing down. The desire not to have to rebuild again held him back. "Shite, do you have your potions? Or are those all at home?" It wouldn't be completely horrible for her to go without them, since there was a time before they were invented and women then still had healthy babies, but it would be better if they were at her disposal. He wasn't even thinking about what she said. First he wanted to know what they were in for. Hopefully, the doors would work again before too long, but if they were trapped for a while, things could get weird. Very, very weird.
