Moving toward his table a bit more, so that they were at least within normal speaking distance, Emmeline smiled again. Whew. She hadn't just been completely oblivious to his presence or anything. When he asked if she'd like to join him, she nodded. "Sure, if you don't mind." Her plans to go back to the store and eat were shoved aside, because she wanted to know who the mystery man was. "I'm Emmeline," she replied, taking a seat across from him.
"So... the twins found you and gave you a job and a journal and, I'm assuming, a housing assignment," she continued on. She hadn't remembered seeing anything written by him announcing his arrival, so she hoped he'd found someone to explain things to him. If he hadn't, he was being remarkably calm about the whole village thing.
