He should have done this days ago. Or was it weeks? As usual, Scorpius lost time as it slipped away and he was busy doing one thing when he should have been doing another. At least this time it wasn't all research that had stolen his mind away from proper family activities.
Still. He might have avoided it, just a bit, because Narcissa Malfoy was yet another person who had no idea who he was, although he knew her well. But in the end, he missed his grandmother, and she, at least, was an actual adult. And while Scorpius might not admit it outloud, he had to agree with Alby that the village was lacking in parental like figures and it made him feel off-balance.
He brought wine with him--good and proper wine, as befitting a Malfoy--as a hostess gift, and hoped it would let her forgive him for the surprise. Because as soon as the door opened and he saw her standing there, looking just enough like the grandmother he'd known since birth, he couldn't help himself. Scorpius stepped forward to hug her affectionately, and kiss her cheek. "Grandmum. It is so absolutely brilliant to see you."
