WHO; Gideon and Fabian Prewett (and mentions of Amelia Bones) WHAT; Gid's informing Fabian of things WHEN; backdated to 1/20 after Fabian arrived WHERE; All Night Long RATING; pg-13 for language, death talk
Gideon had been feeling down lately because he had no magic. But those days were over. Having his brother here after so long was infinitely better than being able to cast a warding charm. Having said brother escorted to him by his girlfriend, like a bag of takeout from the food court, was even better. Perhaps Fabian would even take the talk well since he already thought he was dead. Gideon wasn't going to go into the situation expecting that, though. That would be callous. But he also knew Fabian was made of stronger stuff than Molly, and she was incredibly strong. Fabian was also from a later year, which meant he was older than Gideon for the first time. He was deeper into the war and had a different viewpoint than Gideon did in 1976.
Even if Gid had to tell his brother the unfortunate future, he was still damn excited to see him. It had been almost eight months, and he'd begun to despair at Fred and George ever getting their other uncle in the village. Since it was a Monday, the club wasn't that busy, so he'd have no problem catching up with Fabian and keeping up with serving drinks. Gideon knew it shouldn't take Mel too long to find him, so Gideon stowed his journal away in a drawer under the till so he could get going with Fabian. He was wiping down the bar counter when the door opened, bringing in two of his favorite people.
He stared at them for a moment. Fabian looked older than he remembered him, but that was to be expected since he was older. He looked tired. That should also have been expected, but anticipating things was completely different than facing the reality. "Shit," he breathed, moving out from behind the bar counter and walking toward his brother and Amelia. It took him a couple seconds of observation before Gideon pulled Fabian into a big man-hug, his right hand curling into a fist and gently pounding him on the back a few times as men do, before he then pulled away. And since he wasn't about to let Amelia leave with nothing, he bent down to give her a quick kiss before thanking her and telling her he'd see her at home. Then he turned back to his brother. "Merlin's tits, it's been fucking long enough." Gideon knew Fabian couldn't understand that, but it was how his thoughts were running at the moment.
