Ted paused to study the younger man. "Draco, lad," he began, "what in Merlin's name would possess you to think they would not want your help?" This village was different from real life, yes. At home, Ted was hardly aware of Draco's existence; he knew of him, yes, but they were not part of each others' lives the way it was here. So Ted couldn't speak to that Draco, but the man he knew here seemed decent and respectable and at least half of the village, it seemed, called him a friend.
Ted also knew that in dire situations where it felt no one was on your side, any show of support was appreciated. He experienced that with Andromeda when they'd first been married.
