Draco laughed. There was really no other way of putting it. "When I first arrived, I thought I was in a fancy Azkaban." No wonder considering when he came from, but, still, he understood what she meant. He landed over a year ago, but that didn't mean he just forgot what it was like to get plucked into an alternate universe.
He kept his gaze straight ahead after that. "Forward, I definitely want to go forward." He couldn't forget; if he forgot, he'd just go backward. No, he wanted to accept what was behind him and use it to have a better future. Not just in the village, but at home too now that he knew how it all turned out. "Your loyalties, Trace, are...Merlin, how do I say this without sounding like a soft idiot?" He shrugged again. "To whoever you want, I suppose. Those you care about?" Then again, his loyalties had never been much different. Skewed, yes, but always to his parents first and foremost. Unfortunately, his parents were tied deeply to some not so awesome things. "Honestly, it took me a long time. I still feel bloody insane sometimes. One day at a time, you know?" He touched her elbow lightly. "Many of us might be adjusted now, but, trust me, very few come to this place and accept it overnight."
