He had lied about his middle name. It wasn't actually trouble. Until now, anyway.
Of course, he was a Gryffindor, and that tended to come a long with a little added recklessness (though a Gryffindor would of course term it courage) and an innate sense of adventure. He'd been in the Forbidden Forest a few times, although admittedly not after hours, and after the last time he'd been caught he'd decided it wasn't worth the lecture. Unless there was anything particularly interesting to see.
He found Minerva more than a little interesting. It was more than just the way she didn't mind him occasionally snogging her - though this was undoubtedly a huge bonus - it was the way she just sort of took everything in her stride, without worrying about or being reliant on the opinions of others, apparently without a care in the world, although he sensed there was more too it than that.
The suggestion that they take the day off school was not entirely unwelcome - especially with the added temptation of a scantily-dressed girl - though he did worry a little of what his mother might think of it. Still, he was seventeen now, right? He deserved a little fun. Anyway it was practically Christmas holidays already.
He left his journal on the bed - he did not need people bothering him today - and sauntered out the back door with all appearances of going up to the castle like any other day. With any luck he could time his return to match the end of the school day, and no one would be any the wiser.
