If Emmeline had known half of what Demelza was going through, she would have felt awful for not being there for her more. She knew the settling in period was different for every person, but figured that Demelza would rather have her friends to lean on during this time than a total stranger. She eyed the glass in Demelza's hand briefly, before focusing back in on the girl and giving her a sympathetic look. "Yeah. Being given a job that you know nothing about is hard at first." If Emmeline had known anything about horses, she would have offered to help Elza out, but unfortunately she didn't. "I'm sure we can find someone who's familiar with horses to help you out and show you the ropes, if you want?"
Emmy waved a hand at Elza and smiled as if to say "don't worry about it" when she asked what her job was. "I'm the manager at Goods and Stuff. We sell mostly produce and meat there, so that's been a learning experience." While she'd been eager to talk to Elza earlier, Emmy now wondered if it was the best time.
"How are you adjusting?" she finally asked, once again looking at the drink Elza was holding. She wasn't going to judge the other girl for her coping methods, though she was a little concerned about her.
