Demelza was still "settling in" if that could be what it was called. Sleepless nights, homesickness, crying, trying to resist the urge to vomit all the time. She couldn't wrap her head around all of it, and magic was farfetched enough. But to talk to friends that were suddenly younger than her, or a lot older than her, or to be talking to her friends' adult kids... even grandkids? It made her want to faint. But it was real. As far as in reality of it was concerned. She was still trying to piece together everything she had learned the day she arrived via the journal, but it was a lot to process.
One thing Elza found this place had in common with home was the alcohol. She wasn't much of a drinker back where she came from, but she found it was the only way to calm her nerves at night when she had too much to think about. At least her job kept her busy, though she wasn't sure that was a good thing. Looking up at Emmeline from her lounged position on the couch, a glass of something clear that definitely wasn't water hanging from her hand. "Oh. You know. Trying not to get my hair eaten or kicked." She tried to make a joke about it, but was only able to offer a lopsided smile.
"How was... sorry, what do you do?" While she thought Emmy was quite nice, she was still having a hard time keeping track of everything. She frowned apologetically, not wanting to seem less informed than she should be.
