Who: Harry & Polaris
What: Harry reaching out to yet another generation
Where: The cafe, again
When: Friday lunchtime
Sitting in the cafe in the village, Harry found himself considerably less nervous at the prospect of meeting his granddaughter than he had at the prospect of meeting his parents, or his kids. Perhaps he was just getting used to this village now, or maybe it was just easier to distance something that was so far away from happening, in his own time. But he was far from disinterested. The idea that he even managed to achieve grandchildren was somewhat mind-boggling in itself - given how sure he had been, eight years ago, that he wouldn't even live to be of legal drinking age in the Muggle world. There was something very satisfying about knowing that his family would go on, once he did eventually kick the bucket. Maybe it was a manliness thing.
Then there was the whole Malfoy issue. Maintaining civility with Draco Malfoy was, he decided, quite doable, and he was determined not to judge his future son-in-law before meeting him. He was sure Lily wouldn't have married him if he exhibited any of the sort of bigoted behaviour Harry had come to expect from that family... still. He was interested to see the result of this unlikely union. He really hoped he wouldn't upset Polaris - Merlin, what a name! - as Malfoy had hinted that she might be a bit fragile at the moment. Since he had never known any of his own grandparents, he wasn't sure how one was meant to act. He'd have to do his best to follow the example of Molly and Arthur Weasley. He'd taken their lead on parenting, for the most part, and it seemed to be working so far.
