Amelia was totally right in thinking everything was perfect. Gideon completely agreed with her. Everything seemed really perfect at that very moment, but he too realized everything could change in a moment with how they lived. The village sucked that way, and maybe tomorrow would bring something insane from one of the islands or a huge creature from the water. Maybe the village would cease to exist in a week and they'd go back to their normal lives, all none the wiser about everything that occurred in their little nook out of time. Gideon didn't want to miss a moment of what he had with Amelia right there and right then.
There was definitely no such thing as a kiss that lasted too long. Not in Gideon's book. His eyebrows shot up when she started walking away, though. "What little tricks?" he asked, curious for obvious reasons. Had Mel really been holding out on him? He mostly doubted it, but she'd surprised him only moments ago. She could very well have other secrets that she hadn't let him in on yet. For the moment, though, he shook his head at her secrets and found his wand, doing a quick warming charm on the plates of food. They were definitely room temperature now and in need of reheating. Gideon had an idea, then, so he grabbed a knife and cut up both of their pork chops, making it easier to eat away from the table. He wanted to sit with her on the sofa in the other room. Screw eating at the dinner table. He'd finished that by the time Amelia returned to the first floor of the house and handed her one plate. "Sofa," Gideon said simply.
