Already in the village they had been through quite a lot. Gideon didn't want to toot his own horn, but he'd been there for Amelia for a lot of difficult things she'd had to go through. The first one was Teddy leaving. Gideon had an inkling in the back of his mind that if Teddy hadn't disappeared, he and Amelia would've stayed just friends. He didn't allow himself to think about that for very long, though, because it was pointless to contemplate what might've been in a village that was controlled by magic. They just had to go with what was happening at that moment. If there was ever a time and place to take 'live for today' to heart, it was right then and right there.
And then there was the whole monster attack thing, during which Susan was a casualty. She came back, yes, but Amelia had still seen her niece die. Gideon was there for her. That was when he decided to move in with her and Hestia, although it wound up just being the two of them. He sort of wanted to be there in case she started having problems or nightmares or anything of the sort involving Susan's death. He wanted to be there for her, and not only because they were friends. But to have progressed from there to where they were now was something Gideon couldn't have planned.
With their lips pressed together, Gideon wrapped his arms around Amelia's waist and held her against him. There were times when he missed his life at home. He never stopped missing Fabian, and he did miss Molly. He'd had moments of missing his life of action with the Order, but that wasn't one of the thoughts in his mind at that moment. He actually wanted to be right where he was, even if he was stuck in a crazy magic village. The village gave him Mel, and the village was fine by him at that moment. "That's exactly what it was," he teased. "It's just the food." Speaking of, Gideon kind of couldn't wait until they finished eating now, which was probably a first for him. They had other things to do aside from eat at that very moment. Then again, he didn't want her food to get cold or her cheesecake to get burned.
