Never in a million years did Amelia think she would fall for Gideon Prewett. Not that she hadn't thought he was drop dead gorgeous when they knew each other back home and fantasies might have filled her hormonal mind, but a little over ten years separated them. Back where he was from, Amelia was only nineteen and had just gotten her first internship at the Ministry and he was already far into his career and the Order. Though she thought him charming and attractive, it never extended past a friendly point. Mel figured he was way out of her league, and the fact he was Edgar's good friend and far older than her didn't help. And then only too shortly afterwards he and his brother had been killed. Two in a long line of many to follow in her life.
But here... well it was like the village had given her a small treat in all the pile of shit she had to wade through. Making them closer in age had been one of the few favors the village had provided her with, and she was grateful for once. Without him... well without him there was a distinct possibility she would have gone charging into the forest not long after Susan died during the attack. Or really, maybe it had extended back even further than that. He had been there when she had someone important ripped away the last time, and after that experience she figured time here was short for the people she grew fond of. Though it scared her to do so sometimes, she wanted to be as close to Gideon as she could. One never knew the next time a village hiccup could ruin everything.
Amelia was glad she hadn't decided to look up after she told him, because it made it all the better to have him standing in front of her just moments afterward. That was a positive sign, right? When he took her plate, she finally managed to lock eyes with him right as he told her he loved her in return. Tears of happiness sprung into the corners of her eyes, making them shine a little too brightly in the kitchen light. No tears fell though, because Amelia just wasn't that type of person. Crying was only reserved for times when something was really, really wrong. And absolutely nothing in the entire universe was wrong right in that second.
His touch on her arms both calmed her nerves and managed to form goosebumps on her skin from the excitement that was building through her body. Snaking her arms up around his neck she pulled him too her, kissing him tenderly and smiling into his lips. "That was the best answer," she whispered too him, chuckling slightly. She was on cloud nine, and somehow if the world exploded around them right now and all hell broke loose, she would still have been completely content. "I knew if I cooked for you long enough I would win you over to my way of thinking. That heart through the stomach saying really does make sense now." Okay, so she was joking now, and she figured he would catch that through her tone.
