Amelia was a natural cook even without Molly Weasley around, but she'd be lying if she said a lot of her extra work hadn't been because the other woman had left. Mel was more than aware the toll this place could take on someone emotionally, especially when important family members kept popping in and out. She had at least been lucky enough to be blessed with a brother and sister in law who seemed to be sticking, when so many others didn't. Plus, she knew it had now been over six months since Gid had gotten trapped here, making that over six months since he had seen his twin brother. Mel didn't have a twin, but she had siblings. She understood how horrible it could be to be separated for that amount of time without any signal as to when he might be showing up...
Trying to push that away from her mind though, she smiled at the enthusiasm he had while digging into the dinner she had made. It hadn't been tough, really. Honestly, dinner had been a minor afterthought of dessert. "Maybe I could extend the store hours into the early morning, then again... I don't think people have the shopping bug at 2 am and I'm pretty sure my staff would kill me," she replied with a chuckle, rolling her eyes at the imagined expressions on her co-workers faces.
Moving to grab her own plate, his words about cleaning up made her beam. "So I get to make a mess and not clean up after myself?" she asked, though she was joking around of course. "Seriously, it's like you know me all too well at this point. Probably one of the many reasons why I love you so much," she said. But once the words left her mouth, she realized exactly what she had said and stopped cold in her tracks. Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Immediately chewing on her lip, her stomach felt like it dropped out of the bottom of her body. She hadn't meant to let that slip. It was too soon, right? He was going to be freaked out by her, she just knew it. Her face had to have been the color of a tomato the way it burned, and she couldn't seem to force herself to look up from her shaking hands to see the expression on his face.
Trying to smooth over the situation she started to say in a shaking voice. "I uhm... what I meant to say was.." but there was little use. Her mind was blank and she had no idea how to make the embarrassment she just brought on herself go away. So instead she tried her very best to ignore it. Maybe if she did, he would too?
