Taking off her shoes and socks, Gabrielle rolled her jeans up to her knees and waded into the lake a few feet. It was definitely chilly, but not uncomfortably so. In fact, if Al hadn't been with her, she probably would have gone for a swim in her underclothes.
She swatted at a cotton candy cloud that was getting a little too close -- she did not want it in her hair -- and turned around to face Al. "Did you and Roxy ever get your tree house built?" Being here on the beach reminded her of the fort they had constructed.
