It had been almost a week since Percy had suddenly vanished into thin air, or whatever it was that happened to disappear in this place. Oliver had done his best not to think too much about the possibilities. He'd been repeatedly assured that the people who disappeared in the village just went back home, it should have been a good enough explanation for him. The thought of Percy going back home, after everything he'd learned here in the village, didn't make it seem like the better option for Percy.
Oliver had taken Comet out for a walk along the beach, so the puppy would see a bit more of the island than just the village and Oliver's house. Not long after their arrival at the beach Comet had found a piece of drift wood, which seemed interesting enough to carry it around in his mouth ever since. Oliver followed him, letting Comet pick where they were going. "over here, Comet," he called out, when he spotted someone else a little further down the beach. Comet had already started approaching the woman, but he trotted back over to his owner when he was called.
The woman he saw wasn't anyone Oliver recognised, but he approached slowly. "Hello," he greeted her when he was a few steps away from her.
