Katie was startled when Lee quickly moved her around. It wasn’t that she objected, it wasn’t uncomfortable, but she hadn’t been expecting the sudden movement. She forced herself to calm down and lean back against Lee. It was more comfortable than she could have imagined, and she felt her body relax just a bit more than she had been in the past few days. She almost didn’t realize what she waid until her brain had caught up to her.
Katie turned as much as she could to face him, confusion clearly written on her face. She hadn’t been one of those who actively sought the future, but she thought something like that would have come up sooner. It wasn’t that she was against marrying Lee, she adored him, and she had gone back and forth fancying him for years now (and she had to admit, he was quite handsome in his old age) but it caught her by surprise.
“Why do I feel like I’m the only one who didn’t already know that? Like. I don't even know how I'm supposed to react right now."
