Lucy picked at her cake. It was her second piece, but she hadn’t known what else to do after finishing the first piece, so she had grabbed another and found a place out of the way of everyone else. She felt awkward, but that was a feeling that seemed to be associated with everything here. She kept telling herself that she’d get used to seeing her family so different, that things wouldn’t be the same but she’d adapt, but she wasn’t so sure. It was all so surreal.
She had caught sight of Percy seconds after walking into the Burrow. He wasn’t all that different than from her world, just younger. Less grey in his hair and fewer lines on his face. If she had had any doubts, though, they were expelled when he spoke to her. She’d recognize his voice at any age he might be, it seemed. Glancing over, she tried her best to push down all negative thoughts and feelings and gave him a light smile and said with a teasing tone, “Dad.”
Sticking a fork into the middle of her cake and setting it on a nearby bookshelf, she turned to give him her full attention. It was so strange to see her father just five years older than herself. She felt like she was looking at life size picture of him and not the actual thing, which was how she felt when looking at a lot of people in the village. She studied his face, "This has got to be loads more weird for you than it is for me- I remember you."
