Who: Percy and Lucy Weasley What: Father and daughter meet Where: The Burrow, at Molly's birthday party When: Wednesday, Oct 30, Rating: PG
A paper plate with a slice of cake in hand, Percy walked mingled with the rest of those invited to the party. This version of his Molly was even younger than the one he previously knew, and so while he smiled and called her 'mum' and made so many plans for the celebration, it was done with a bit of detachment, since he honestly couldn't relate to this young lady who would in the future become his mother.
As he mingled, he saw a face he didn't recognize. He frowned in thought, wondering who it might be, then it dawned on him... there was one person who recently arrived in the village who would be invited to a Weasley gathering. From a distance, he inspected her face and saw shadows of Audrey in her features. He froze, hesitating; he should introduce himself to her. But if having a party for an eighteen year old future mother was strange, meeting his future daughter, whom he didn't even know he had before coming to the village, was just as worse. It was even more complicated when Lucy told him, on the journals, not to get his hopes up high - suggesting that he and Lucy were not close. What sort of person was Lucy? What was the nature of their relationship, that she would say such a thing? She came from a time after his divorce with Audrey... did she harbor any resentment?
The only way to answer these questions was to introduce himself. It was as good a time as any. The village was too small to avoid her for long, and as if the Twins had planned it to spite him, Lucy was assigned a job at the gym, working with his boyfriend, Oliver. Though he was intimidated, he squared his shoulders, took a deep, steadying breath, put on a brave demeanor, and went up to where she was.
