Weird didn't have to mean bad. Sure, it was an adjustment seeing his Nana Molly so young, but she was still family and he loved her. In the end, that was all that mattered didn't it? Family, friends, and love. There was always another hero, another brilliant author, another awesome actor, but loved ones? They shape a person for better or worse. As much as Al wanted his art and writing to be important some day, he knew, in the end, people would remember him for how he made them feel. And for that? He wanted to be someone who made people feel good. He just wasn't sure how to do that in the village. Some people constantly mentioned not overwhelming people with their futures while others continuously reminded him that it wasn't his place to share who he was until people were ready for it. How was he meant to take it? He understood the scariness of the whole thing, but why did everyone assume people like his parents and grandparents didn't want to know about him? He stayed away when Ginny arrived and then when Molly came back, but he had a feeling he hurt Molly's feelings after he read her entry asking the grandkids to speak up. Now? He wanted to make it up to her. She had been too good to him both at home and previously in the village for him not to make her feel special on her birthday. Of course he was only seventeen and had limited means to do so, but he was trying.
He arranged to meet her at Mike's Corner during his lunch hour at school. As promised, he had the first issue of "For You" with him as well as a drawing of young Molly and young Arthur from shortly after their wedding. He had two cupcakes for later.
