Cho gave an awkward laugh, rubbing the back of her neck. "I... didn't want to assume, you know, I mean..." Of course she knew all the things people said about the Malfoys, and she knew of his family through her parents working in the Ministry. But Cho had learned this past year what it felt like to be judged before someone got to know her, and she was learning how to give the benefit of the doubt.
She shook her head and waved her hands back and forth animatedly, as if to do away with the embarrassing moment just now. A small smile crept onto her face when he spoke again. "You can cook using mostly just magic, of course," Cho shrugged, "but I like doing more of the work myself. You'll have a good time, I think. It's great when you can look at the finished product and say 'I made this!' and you've watched it come together into something from nothing."
All right, maybe she was getting a bit too poetic talking about the whole experience, but even if she wasn't incredibly talented at it, Cho was proud of the few things she was able to make very well.
