Oliver's final comment convinced Percy that his emotional state had something to do with Quidditch, and so Percy was able to relax a little: the problem wasn't with something he did, after all. But the problem remained, nonetheless, and Percy grimaced to think of how he could help Olliver resolve it.
"Well," Percy began with a little trepidation, "You'll be able to play again once the teams are selected. It's not professional, but with your coaching, I'm sure you could bring the players' level up some. It just takes a little patience, that's all. And maybe... this could help you broaden your interests beyond what you're comfortable with. Take me for example! I was working at the Ministry for years, I wouldn't have ever considered taking either performing or interior decorating seriously as a viable occupational option. But now doing so, I've decided that I enjoy it. I mean... we're stuck here, that's true. And we don't know how long we're going to be here. This world we're living in is unstable, people come and go without warning, and even the landscape changes at a whim. So we make do with what we have before us and enjoy the moments together."
Percy felt like he sounded too sentimental, but he didn't know of any other words to try and cheer Oliver up. He only wanted his friend to get out of his funk.
